Craig Hayden – Craig is assistant professor of international communication at the School of International Service at American University. He has taught at the University of Virginia’s Department of Media Studies, and at the University of Southern California. He was also a Post-Doctoral Research Associate at the USC Center on Public Diplomacy. His current research focuses on the discourse of public diplomacy, the rhetoric of foreign policy related to media technologies, as well as the impact of global media and media convergence on international relations. He is particularly interested in the comparative study of public diplomacy and media culture as a pivotal resource for international relations, as well as the impact of communication technology on international influence.. Craig was named a Fellow at the USC Center on Public Diplomacy in 2009. He is the author of The Rhetoric of Soft Power:Public Diplomacy in Global Contexts, a book about comparative public diplomacy and the global diffusion of “soft power” as a justification for influence initiatives.

Efe Sevin – Efe is a Research Fellow at the Center for Research on Collaboratories and Technology Enhanced Learning Communities (COTELCO) and a doctoral candidate at the School of International Service. His research interests include strategic communication, global governance, non-traditional diplomacy, human-computer interaction, and research methods. His research has been published in several academic journals and books including American Behavioral Scientist and Place Branding and Public Diplomacy. He has delivered numerous presentations and lectures on global public health, public diplomacy, nation/place branding, and strategic communication. Efe has a master’s degree in Communication Management from Emerson College in Boston, MA. He completed his undergraduate studies in the Middle East Technical University in Turkey. He is a recipient of Foreign Fulbright Scholarship.
